Obituary for Michael “Mikie” L. Bennett,II

Michael “Mikie” L. Bennett II, 39, a resident of Dailey, passed from this life unexpectedly on Thursday, August 8, 2019, at his home.

Mikie was born Sunday, February 10, 1980, in Elkins, a son of Michael Lynn Bennett and Margaret “Maggie” Brady Bennett who survive in Dailey.

Also left to cherish his memory is one brother, Justin Bennett and wife Billie of Dailey, one sister, Julie Supak and husband Aric of Parsons, two nieces, Hailey Supak and Raven Bennett, one nephew, Sawyer Supak, two aunts, Toni Kenney and Cathy Swecker of Greenville, TN, four uncles, Paul “Slugger” Brady, and wife Debbie of Pickens, Daniel Brady and wife Becky of Huttonsville, Mark Brady and wife Tammy of Valley Bend, and Jeff Bennett and wife Patricia of Dailey, cousins Paul “Jake” Brady III, Tonya, Jessica, Bradley, Kassie, Jonathan, Sarah, Brandon, Hannah, Beth Ann, Matthew, Ernie, Clinton, Jeffrey, Stephanie, Anthony, and William.

Preceding Mikie in death was his paternal grandparents, Max and Opal Bennett, maternal grandparents, Paul and Lois Brady, aunt, Lois Bennett, and uncles, David Brady and John Kenney.

Mikie graduated from Tygarts Valley High School with the class of 1998. In 2001, he joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. He had worked for several coal and lumber companies until he injured his back. Mikie enjoyed his dogs, taking hikes, mountain climbing, planting vegetable and flower gardens, cooking, carving, camping and inventing ways to make his life easier. He was an adventurer and enjoyed exploring and spending time outdoors in nature. He also enjoyed swimming, biking, running, working out, and lifting weights which helped him achieve a runner up position during the 2007 Toughman Contest in Elkins. His life’s motto was “make the most of your time on earth and never be afraid of anything”. He loved children and enjoyed playing with them. Mikie received Christ and was baptized in water by Pastor Tim Shuttlesworth at the Assembly of God in Elkins when he was just five years old. He wore his heart on his sleeve, and would give the shirt off his back to help others. He would carry any pain just so others wouldn’t have to feel it. He will be missed by all who loved and understood him…there will never be another like him.

The family’s request for cremation was honored. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Randolph Funeral Home Wednesday, August 14, 2019, where friends and family will gather from 6 pm until 7 pm, the funeral hour. Pastor Leon Brown will officiate.
